Paris – A police chase Saturday in Paris leads to the arrest of a local man, who allegedly triggered a hit and run.
Officers Wolfe and Belcher of the Paris Police Department were called to a traffic accident at the Downtown Plaza involving a white van that had fled the scene. No injuries were reported in the accident. While responding, Officers were able to intercept the van going East on Clarksville street. They were initially unable to get the vehicle pulled over after turning on their lights and sirens. The van eventually stopped in the 100 block of SE 19th in the front yard of a residence.
The driver, identified as Jimmy Lee Evans of Paris, was placed under arrest for Felony Evading Arrest/ Detention with a Vehicle; as well as Driving while Intoxicated and leaving the scene of an Accident.
