Honey Grove Warriors: 2013 football preview

As last year's regional semifinalist and this year's district favorite, it goes without question that the Warriors of Honey Grove have high expectations for the 2013 season.

However, with the loss of seven offensive and six defensive starters, head coach Brian Lewis will have a big challenge matching the success that led to 19 wins over the last two seasons.

Big things are expected from quarterback Jeremy Patt. Last season, Patt combined for 19 passing and rushing touchdowns with a total yardage of 829 through the air and 888 rushing. On defense, a key pair of linebackers, Bobby Newman and Pre-season Defensive MVP Lucas Banker, will look to make the offense's job a lot easier.

The Warriors will open against Wolfe City at home, a game that could very well decide the district championship. Wolfe City is picked by most to finish second in District 8-1A Division I. With a strong winning tradition and key players returning, Honey Grove appears to be in good shape for the 2013 season.
