Hunt County burn ban to be considered, other burn bans lifted

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – The Hunt County Commissioner's Court will consider lifting the burn ban at its regular meeting October 9th. Incoming Fire Marshall Mike Pierce and outgoing Fire Marshall Dorsey Driggers discussed the situation and both agreed it is a good time to consider lifting the ban. The county has received some much needed rain recently, but dry conditions still persist after two years of drought.

Lamar, Rains, and Hopkins Counties lifted their burn bans earlier this week, and other surrounding counties have also begun reviewing or lifting their burn bans. The current burn ban in Hunt County has been in place since late June.
