Hunt County man killed in accident on I-20

By Scott Harvey

Hunt County – A Hunt County man is killed following a Sunday morning accident along Interstate 20 involving an 18-wheeler and flatbed wrecker.

Clint Ray Clifton, of Wolfe City, is one of three individuals killed in the accident, which occurred at approximately 12:35 a.m. Sunday near mile marker 625 just east of Marshall.

Clifton, along with Terry Lee Adams, of Alvarado, were being serviced by Marshall towing Service operator James Albert Blackburn Jr. on the south shoulder of the interstate at the time of the crash. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Gene Dark with the Texas Department of Public Safety Tyler office.

Preliminary reports indicate the driver of the 18-wheeler, Warren Dwayne Reed, of Brownwood, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 and failed to maintain a single lane and drove onto the south shoulder of the road, striking the three pedestrians. Brownwood, according to the DPS report, was uninjured.
