Hunt County man sentenced in armed standoff

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Hawk Cove resident Jeffery Brian Feagin has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty in connection with an armed standoff.

Under a plea bargain arrangement, Feagin was given 12 years on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. He also received probation and community service time after pleading guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Deputies were dispatched in September to Feagin's residence in Hawk Cove. While Feagin was not reported to have fired on any of the officers, he allegedly pointed the shotgun at the Hawk Cove Police Chief several times.
