Hunt County – Some new families are to be formed today in Hunt County. Ceremonies are scheduled this afternoon at the Hunt County Courthouse for today's local observance of National Adoption Day. the event is a collective national effort to raise awareness of the 129,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent families. Officials with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Hunt County said that at the beginning of November, 34 children were waiting for adoption in the county. As part of the effort to highlight the need CASA has placed dozens of life-like images of foster children each carrying a message around the courthouse and at various locations across Hunt County.
