Hunt County Sheriff bond saga ends

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – The year-long saga over missing funds from the Hunt County jail has come to an end. Sheriff Don Anderson dropped his bond suit earlier this week; one day before the courts were set to rule on whether to lift an injunction Anderson had filed. The move comes after the Hunt County Commissioner's Court dropped all county claims against the missing money earlier this month.

The county and Anderson have been at odds since $16,000 came up missing from the Inmate Trust Fund. County leaders sought to get the money through the sheriff's bond company, which was set to pay off until Anderson filed an injunction.

County Commissioner's voted to cease pursuit of the funds after little evidence could be shown that Anderson was at fault for the missing money.
