Hwy 11 widening more than halfway complete

A section of the construction zone just west of Fairlie along State Highway 11

WOLFE CITY - Phase 3 of the Highway 11 reconstruction and widening project between Wolfe City and Fairlie is underway.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, contractor DL Lennon, Inc. is expected to begin road construction on the third leg of the project this week.

The entire plan will cover a nearly eight mile section of State Highway 11 from the State Highway 34 intersection to FM 2655.

Phase 3 calls for work between CR 4825 and 4821, about a two mile stretch. It is expected to last until June.

Phase 4, the final phase and section closest to Wolfe City, will be under construction from June to September.  A second course surface treatment, the final paved surface and striping, will be placed on the entire 7.9-mile widened section by the end of September.

Final project completion is projected to be early October.
