North Hopkins – A Sulphur Springs woman who served as a secondary coach and teacher has resigned from the North Hopkins ISD prior to being arrested Friday for improper relationship between an educator and a student. 30 year old Heather Alicia Thompson turned herself in to the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department on the charge Friday after confessing to the second degree felony offense.
Officials had previously received information that the woman had been having a relationship with a 17 year old male student since April 1st.
The North Hopkins ISD is a Class A school in northern Hopkins County mostly attended by students from the communities of Peerless, Birthright, Tira, and Beckham.
No further details on the relationship were immediately available.
