Inaugural "Pee Wee" Walker ceremony Saturday

Commerce – Area law enforcement will be recognized in Commerce this weekend. The mayor of Rowlett will serve as the keynote speaker Saturday, for the inaugural Mike "Pee Wee" Walker Law Enforcement Awards Ceremony. The event is named in honor of Walker, a father of two who was shot and killed on June 13, 2005. Adam Ward, of Commerce, received the death penalty following his conviction last summer. The ceremony will be presenting 33 awards to area law enforcement officials, and is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce Family Ministry Building.
