Indictment issued in Campbell murder

By Brad Kellar

Campbell – An indictment has been issued in connection to an alleged Campbell murder. James Ray Brown Jr, of Campbell, was indicted on the charge Friday. Brown is being held in the Hunt County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond involving the October death of Avis Baker Brown. James Brown reportedly told investigators he had mistaken his wife for an intruder, although the shooting allegedly occurred following a domestic disturbance. Witnesses said the two had been fighting before Brown shot his wife with a shotgun.
