Interim City Manager appointed

Commerce – The Commerce City Council Monday appointed Director of Administrative Services Marc Clayton as Interim City Manager after last week's suspension of Dion Miller.

Miller was suspended with pay by a 3-2 vote following a heating special session that including public comment in favor of Miller.

Councilwoman Billie Biggerstaff had requested an item be placed on the agenda citing Miller's lack of leadership abilities, "people" skills and methods of management. Biggerstaff, along with Council member's Tony Henry and Richard Hill voted for the suspension while Mayor Quay Throgmorton and Bob Monday were opposed.

Following the vote, Throgmorton called for an investigation into Biggerstaff, Henry and Hill for violation of the city charter, administrative policies, the open meetings act and Miller's employment contract.

Additionally, the Mayor called for an investigation regarding possible administrative violations by the city secretary, police chief, assistant police chief, director of administrative services and the city attorney.
