Interstate traffic to be slowed due to construction

By Scott Harvey

A reminder to Northeast Texas commuters as more traffic delays are expected in Greenville along Interstate 30.

Crews plan to reduce down to one lane between 1.8 miles and four-tenths of a mile west of State Highway 34/Wesley Street. The phase of construction is expected to remain in effect for approximately 11 months.

Road construction in Gainesville in North Central Texas also begins Tuesday, with lane closures expected to affect commuter traffic.

TxDot will be closing the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 at the 495 mile marker to resurface the Elm Creek Bridge. The lanes will be closed one at a time so traffic will be allowed through but it will cause delays.

The I-35 service road does NOT cross Elm Creek and motorist should stay on the Interstate if they wish to cross. This area will be patrolled by the DPS to ensure safety for motorists during this project, which is expected to last for 45 days.
