Investigators search for suspects/motive in killing

By Kevin Jefferies

Quinlan – Investigators are trying to determine the person responsible for killing a Quinlan man late last week. 43 year old Michael Patrick Bates was found in his home dead of a gunshot wound. Police are unsure as to any motive in the murder.
Bates' body was found in his Quinlan home early last Thursday morning by a neighbor, after a party in the residence the night before. Hunt County Sheriff's investigators and Texas Rangers were at the scene of the crime until late Thursday night, but no arrests were immediately made in the case.
The murder is the first reported homicide in Hunt County this year.
