Its Halloween!

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – It's going to be a long Halloween weekend for tricksters of all ages. The kids will surely be pulling their parents out for some trick-or-treating over the weekend, but a host of activities will be running in Commerce Monday, Halloween night. The annual Trick or Treat Downtown will be held from 5:30 to 7 with merchants handing out candy and streets marked off for safe trick-or-treating. The event has been successful every year, according to Commerce City Manager Bill Shipp.

SHIPP: I don't know how many of the merchants are participating, but I know last year (it was) alot. I would say most of the merchants along the square participated. We had a great turnout last year, and I would anticipate the same this year.

The First Baptist Church in Commerce will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat to coincide with the downtown event. Participants will be decorating their cars and offering candy up from their trunks and a prize will be given out for the three best decorated cars, with the kids casting the votes. The church will also be serving hot dog and hamburger suppers starting at 5.

Delta Tau Delta is running their annual haunted house out of the Watson Cafeteria on the A&M-Commerce campus through Halloween, the Learning Center Pumpkin Patch runs through Halloween, and Smith Hall will be running a mini-carnival from 6-8pm Halloween night.

Remember to keep an eye out for all the ghosts and goblins along the streets this long Halloween weekend, and help everyone stay safe.
