The LSC All-Conference awards were announced at tonight’s LSC Championship banquet, declaring Princess Davis as the LSC Freshman of the Year, Ashlee Johnson as a member of the All-Defensive team, and Gabby Scott as an honorable mention.

The native of Shreveport, Louisiana led the LSC outright in assists, averaging 4.3 APG, and wound up with the second-most minutes per game in the conference with 32.3. Davis hit her career-high eight assists on three different occasions, and twice reached the 20-point plateau, he greatest scoring outing being her 26-point effort against Henderson State. She ended the regular season as the Lions third-most prolific scorer, averaging 8.8 points per game.

Ashlee Johnson’s All-Defensive Team affirmation came at the conclusion of a stellar senior season. Starting on a regular basis for the first time in her collegiate career, Johnson provided the Lions with a stabilizing presence in the backcourt. The native of Carson, California led the Lions in steals with 1.7 per game, the sixth-highest mark in the Lone Star Conference. Like Davis, she was also among the LSC-elite in both assists and minutes, averaging 3.8 APG (fourth in LSC) and 31.0 MPG (fifth in LSC). The senior garnered LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors after an exquisite performance at home against Tarleton State in which Johnson matched her career-high eight rebounds while adding 11 points, seven assists and four steals.

Gabby Scott rounded out the Lion awards with an LSC Honorable Mention. Scott was the Lions’ top-scorer on the season with 10.1 PPG, specializing from long-range. The native of Vancleave, Mississippi sunk 1.8 three-pointers per game, the seventh-highest mark in the conference. Over a five game span at the end of January, Scott set and reset her career-high in scoring three separate times, culminating with her current-career-high 22 points against Tarleton State thanks to yet another career-high six three-pointers.

The Lion women wrapped up the regular season last Sunday, finishing with a 13-13 overall record. They will begin the LSC-Tournament this Thursday against the third seeded Cameron Aggies. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for noon in the Allen Event Center.
