Judge to decide on new venue in doctor's trial

By Scott Harvey

Sulphur Springs – A change of venue request has been granted in the trial of longtime Sulphur Springs physician Don O'Neal, who's facing 61 felony counts.

District Judge Robert Newsom Thursday granted the change, which will move the trial out of Hopkins County. Newsom will decide later on where the case will be tried.

Charges against O'Neal include multiple counts of delivery of a controlled substance, prescription fraud and numerous alleged financial crimes.

The case was investigated by Sulphur Springs Police, with assistance of the IRS and several other state and federal agencies.
