Sulphur Springs – While several area cities are waiting until next weekend to celebrate July 4, events are planned for this weekend in Sulphur Springs.
The near two-decade tradition (week before July 4) will feature the usual lineup of the Northeast Texas Symphony Orchestra followed by fireworks on Saturday, with a new event this year the night before.
Spectators are encouraged to bring your lawn chairs to newly refurbished Main Street for a free concert Friday featuring the Cruz Brothers. The two play a wide range of music from Spanish guitar to Aerosmith. Live music begins at 7:00 p.m., with Edgar and Mark Anthony Cruz to headline the musical lineup.
The Friday event, as described by City Manager Marc Maxwell, is the first of a series of Music on Main Street performances; to be conducted about every month.
The Northeast Texas Symphony Orchestra will go on at 7:45 p.m. Saturday on the square, with a fireworks celebration to follow.
Street vendors will also be set up over the two day celebration, serving food and beverages.
