July Celebration Planned to Honor 25th Year

In one of her final actions as Madame Mayor Kayla Price Mitchell recently invited the public to attend the 25th Anniversary of the Independence Day Celebration in Sulphur Springs. The event is highlighted by the Sulphur Springs Symphony Concert and Fireworks Show which will be Saturday, July 2 at 8 p.m.

“This is the best free concert in this area,” said Madame Mayor Kayla Price Mitchell on the traditionally crowd-pleasing event. She encourages the public to come early and bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the view from the beautiful Celebration Plaza near the historic Hopkins County Courthouse downtown Sulphur Springs. There will be ice cream, giveaways and a photo booth.

This year the event will include nine lucky people from the crowd will be selected to participate in a watermelon eating contest for prize money. Sponsoring this year’s event is Alliance Bank.
