The A&M-Commerce Lions show promise as spring practice wraps up with Blue-Gold game on April 21st.

"All in all, I thought it was a success," said head coach Guy Morriss. "We didn't run as many plays as we normally do in a spring game, mostly due to the fact that we've got a lot of guys still trying to get back to 100% and didn't want to take any chances. But it gave us the chance to work on a few things and no one got hurt, which is exactly what you want at the end of spring workouts. The guys looked good for the most part, and now we have some things to build on heading into the fall."

LionAthletics.com reports that transfer QB Justin Gomez completed 9 of 13 passes for 95 yards, and 2011 redshirt Tevin Godfrey hauled in four catches for 59 yards.

Offensive highlight went to Joel Wren on defense, intercepting a Gomez pass at the seven yard line and carrying the ball 93 yards for the score.

Defensively, senior Danny Mason and transfer Duke Wheeler each had 3 tackles.

The Lions open up the 2012 campaign at home, hosting Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday, September 1 at Memorial Stadium. Listen to the call of the game locally at 88.9 FM or online around the world at ketr.org.
