KETR and A&M-Commerce temporarily without power

By Kevin Jefferies/Bill Oliver/Robert Raymo

Commerce –

Just before Noon Friday, Commerce Fire Department received a 911 call of a tree on fire in front of Memorial Stadium in Commerce. That caused a a power outage lasting approximately 90 minutes.

According to Commerce Fire Dept Acting Capt. R. D. Reed "The weather most likely played a role in the power outage. Another contributing factor was that the tree limbs had not been trimmed."

The resulting power outage affected most of the A&M-Commerce campus, including in the Performing Arts Center, which houses the KETR studios.

Weather is said to have been a factor in the incident.
