commerce – The Philadelphia Phillies open their first NL Championship Series in 15 years by hosting the L.A. Dodgers tonight at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies ace lefty Cole Hamels will take the mound against the Dodgers' Derek Lowe in the opener
of the best-of-seven series.

The Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox have one more day off before beginning the AL Championship Series Friday night at Tropicana Field.

Dallas police say Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones was involved in a fight with one of his bodyguards the night before attending a previously scheduled team meeting with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL'). No one was arrested and
no one will be charged in connection with the fight late Tuesday night at an upscale downtown Dallas hotel. Jones missed all of last season for Tennessee while serving an NFL suspension for off-field incidents. Acquired by Dallas in April, Jones was reinstated just before the season. That reinstatement is contingent on Jones keeping his nose clean.

Also, Cowboys cornerback Terrence Newman has been diagnosed with a sports hernia. Newman will be out Sunday against the Cardinals, and would be out a minimum of six weeks if is he has surgery.
