Kidnapping charges dropped against Commerce man

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – A Commerce man has had aggravated kidnapping charges and aggravated assault charges against him dropped. 43-year-old James Matthew McGuckie was alleged to have used a gun in the kidnapping or restraining of a Commerce woman in August of last year. McGuckie was also charged to have threatened the woman and her family with retaliation for her service as a witness in the case.

The charges were dropped, however, when the victim named in the indictments could not be found.

McGuckie still faces trial on two drug charges. He faces trial for possession of chemicals with intent to manufacture a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine.
