Lamar County – A longtime Lamar County Commissioner died Monday during quadruple bypass surgery. 62 year old Mike Blackburn had served as a county commissioner for 11 years.
Blackburn had suffered from a dissected aorta in October, but had the problem corrected. However, medical tests last month showed severe blockage in several arteries, one of them blocked 100%.
Blackburn checked into Baylor Medical Center in Dallas over the weekend for the bypass surgery. He died during the operation.
