Lamar County Jailer stabbed by inmate

Paris – At last report, Lamar County Jailer Chester Adam Carmack remained in intensive care and in stable condition after being stabbed by an inmate on Monday.

33-year-old Jeffrey Lee Rogers is alleged to have stabbed Carmack 17 times with some sort of shank.

Rogers has a violent and lengthy criminal history, including past convictions for burglary, armed robbery and attempted murder. He was also a member of the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang.

A motive in the attack has not been positively determined.

Rogers faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant, and attempted capital murder.

At the time of the attack on Carmack, Rogers was awaiting transfer to the state prison system to serve a 38 year sentence for armed robbery.
