Law enforcement leader no longer subject of lawsuits
GREENVILLE - Five lawsuits filed against Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks have now been dismissed.
The Greenville Herald-Banner reports that the latest decision issued last week included the dismissal of former deputy Brian Alford’s suit, which claimed the sheriff engaged in a cover-up of a sexual harassment complaint against one of his officers.
A disability discrimination suit filed by Laurie Stafford was dismissed in July, and three other employees voluntarily dismissed their cases that same month.
According to the paper, attorneys for Meeks had characterized the cases as frivolous and the sheriff said they were politically motivated at best.
A lawsuit by Donna Reagan, which claims she was passed over for promotion due to her age and gender, remains pending against Hunt County as a whole.
