Ruby Allmond was a singer and songwriter whose skills on the fiddle garnered her the title of "National Champion Lady Fiddler" in 1947. Her legacy lives on through her numerous recordings, including a new version of her song by Brad Davis.
Before her death in 2006, Allmond was convinced by her longtime friend and music collaborator Audra Brock to donate her songs to the archives of the James Gee Library at Texas A&M University-Commerce, where they will be preserved for future generations.
In an effort to create a more high fidelity, quality recording of one of these songs, Audra Brock recruited area music producer, and Grammy Award winner, Brad Davis to revitalize and make a modern version of Ruby's song "Southwind."
