Lewis charged with murder, attempted murder

Former Hunt County constable Anthony Dewayne Lewis, 47, has been charged with one count of murder and one of attempted murder following a shooting Saturday night in Rockwall. Lewis is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend, Jessica Aguilar, 33, and Francisco Delarcuz, 40, in a parking lot near the Harbor Rockwall shopping and dining area around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Aguilar died from her wounds. Delacruz survived and is at Baylor Medical center in Dallas.

Lewis fled from police in Garland and then led law enforcement, including local police and Department of Public Safety officers, on a high-speed chase on eastbound Interstate 30 through Rockwall and to the west side of Greenville, where his vehicle was disabled.

Lewis pointed a gun at officers, who then shot Lewis, police said. He remains at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in critical condition today.

Lewis had served as a precinct constable for Precinct 2 in Hunt County. He lost the Republican primary last May.
