Lewis 'would not be taken alive'

A former Hunt County constable allegedly warned he would not be taken alive after he shot two people in Rockwall last weekend.Affidavits in a support of arrest warrants for Anthony Dewayne Lewis, 47, reveal he called 911 as he was being pursued following the shooting at The Harbor.

“He stated he had just shot two people,” the affidavits from Rockwall Police Department Detective Kevin Tilley said. “He additionally stated that he was armed and would not be taken alive by law enforcement.”

Lewis was captured and taken into custody after being shot by officers once the high speed pursuit ended in Greenville.

The arrest affidavits were in support of filing murder and attempted murder charges against Lewis.

Jessica Aguilar, 33, of Rockwall was killed and Francisco Delacruz, 40, of Dallas was wounded in the Saturday night shooting.

At last report, Lewis remained hospitalized in Dallas and had been charged with one count each of murder and attempted murder, with a total $1.5 million bond set.
