The 2013 A&M-Commerce Lion Safari Tour conclude with a stop in Mt. Pleasant. The event is scheduled for 5:30–8:30 p.m. Thursday at Herschel's Family Restaurant, 1612 S. Jefferson Ave.The tour has reached out to a large number of alumni and fans across the state, having already made stops in Houston, Austin, Frisco, Sulphur Springs, Dallas, Commerce and Mesquite. The Safari Tour is designed to reach out to Lions across the state and keeping them informed about the latest happenings in the A&M-Commerce Athletic Department. The newly formed Lions Athletic Club, football season tickets and corporate sponsorships will be the main focus of the gatherings.

"The Safari Tour is a great opportunity for us to reach out and engage our fan base while providing a platform to push the upcoming season," said Ivey. "We want to provide our fans and supporters an opportunity to be involved, whether it's through a membership with the Lions Athletic Club, season tickets, corporate sponsorships or physical support. This is a new day in Lion Athletics and we want all of our fans to be engaged and involved where they desire."

The Lion Safari Tour is another extension of the Athletic Department's continued effort to reach out to alumni, fans and supporters across the state of Texas. A&M-Commerce held a series of Town Hall Meetings this past spring, visiting a number of communities in the Northeast Texas area and allowing participants to voice their thoughts and concerns regarding the program and implementing a number of ideas based on those suggestions.
