Las Vegas – The A&M-Commerce men's basketball team went 1-1 in the high Desert Classic in Las Vegas over the weekend. Saturday, the Lions came up short against Washburn, dropping that contest 79-73. Sunday, however, the Lions mounted an impressive come-back win, to oust Cal-State San Bernardino.
After shooting just 35% from the field in the first half Sunday, the Lions were looking at a halftime score of 41-23. The Lions stepped up the play in the second half, however, as they closed the gap on the Cal-State San Bernardino Coyotes. With 8 minutes left, the Lions trailed 59-47, but went on an 18-0 run to take the lead. The Lions held on to take the win, 71-64.
The women's team begins play in the High Desert Classic tomorrow, as they face Central Missouri State.
The men are off until the New Year, as they are set next to face Tarleton State January 5th.
