The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's and women's basketball teams will play in the conference tournament beginning Wednesday.
The women's team earned the seventh seed in the Lone Star Conference's eight-team field, while the men took the eighth and final spot in the men's tourney. All games in both tournaments will be played at the Allen Events Center in Allen.
The A&M-Commerce women (10-15 overall, 8-12 in conference play) will tip off against no.2-seed Abilene Christian (21-5, 16-4) at noon on Wednesday. Abilene Christian won the season series against A&M-Commerce, with a 81-60 victory in Abilene Dec. 4 and a 75-61 triumph in Commerce Feb. 6.
The Lion men (14-14, 7-11) tip off against no. 1-seed Midwestern State (19-7, 14-4) at 8:30 Wednesday. The two teams split the seasons series, as A&M-Commerce downed the Mustangs 74-66 in Commerce Jan. 9, while Midwestern State defended its home court successfully in an 85-67 defeat of the Lions in Wichita Falls Feb. 20.

The LSC Men’s Basketball Tournament Champion earns automatic qualification to the 2013 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball South Central Regional held March 16, 17, and 19 at a site to be determined. The winner of the South Central Region will advance to the Elite Eight which is set for Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky., on March 28 and 30. The winners of the semifinal games advance to the title game which will be played at Phillips Arena in Atlanta on April 7.
The LSC Women’s Basketball Tournament Champion earns automatic qualification to the 2013 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball South Central Regional held March 15, 16, and 18 at a site to be determined. The winner of the South Central Region will advance to the Elite Eight to be held March 26, 27, and 29 at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio.
