Lions lose 2nd conference soccer match

By Kevin Jefferies

San Angelo – The A&M-Commerce women's soccer team dropped their second straight conference game 1-0 in a tightly contested game against Angelo State. The Lions fall to 0-2 in conference play and have a 5-3 record overall after the loss.

The Angelo State Rambelles took the lead on a cross to the left post played across the face of the goal and the Lions could only counter with 10 shots on goal all afternoon, and all but one of those in the second half.

17 of 24 fouls called in the game went against A&M-Commerce which led to a late ejection of goal keeper Stacy McDaniel when the Rambelles were slow to take a corner. McDaniel had given up just her first goal in four games and had notched 6 saves before the ejection.

The 21st ranked Lions are heading to Denver Friday to face top-ranked Metro State.
