Lions To Make First-Ever Trip To Odessa vs. UTPB

A&M-Commerce is coming off of a dominant 36-0 victory over West Texas A&M on Oct. 29.

The No. 8 Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions play at first-year program University of Texas of the Permian Basin Saturday night at the historic Ratliff Stadium. It’s the stadium that was used during filming of the football action in the movie Friday Night Lights about Odessa's storied high school football team, the Permian Panthers.

Expect Lions running back Richard Cooper to have a breakout game. He’s only 194 yards away from being the third all-time in school history in rushing yards. He is now the Lone Star Conference leader in rushing average - both per game and per carry.

RECORDS: Texas A&M-Commerce is 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the Lone Star Conference after a 36-0 win over West Texas A&M. UT Permian Basin is 2-7 overall and 0-7 in LSC play after a 76-21 loss at Midwestern State.

RANKINGS: Texas A&M-Commerce is ranked No. 8 in the AFCA Coaches' Poll and No. 7 in the D2Football.com Media Poll. The Lions are also ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Super Region Four Rankings. UT Permian Basin is unranked.
