A&M-Commerce clinched its third consecutive Lone Star Conference championship on Nov. 12 with a 30-10 victory over Tarleton State.

The Texas A&M University-Commerce football team has earned its second consecutive berth to the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs, and will host NCAA Playoff action in Memorial Stadium for the first time since 1991, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions earned the fourth seed in Super Region Four, and will host fifth-seeded Colorado Mesa University at 2 p.m. on Saturday. This is A&M-Commerce's fifth trip to the NCAA Playoffs and the first time hosting since a 1991 first round game against Grand Valley State, which the Lions won 36-15.

The Lions went 10-1 in the regular season and won their third consecutive Lone Star Conference Championship with an 8-1 record in the league. Colorado Mesa went 9-2 in the regular season after upsetting Azusa Pacific in the regular season finale on Saturday. The Mavericks were tri-champions of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Lions and Mavericks have never met on the gridiron.

The winner of this first round game will advance to the second round and play at top-seeded Grand Valley State on Nov. 19.
