Little change locally in congressional redistricting map

By Brad Kellar

– Things in Northeast Texas will stay pretty much the same, according to redistricting proposals issued this week by House and Senate committees.

The proposed map leaves Hunt and Rockwall counties paired, as they are now, as part of House District 4, currently represented by Republican Ralph Hall. A number of other counties in the region, including Delta, Fannin, Hopkins, Lamar and Rains, plus portions of Collin County will remain in the district.

The state will add four new congressional seats next year because of rapid population growth. Texas lawmakers will hear testimony on the proposed map Thursday.
