Commerce – Construction on Live Oak Street in Commerce as in runs by Ben E. Keith continues. One lane may look completed, but there's work yet to be done, according to City manager Bill Shipp.
SHIPP: They did the basic road bed in there. They'll go back in and they will overlay that. I talked with Craig Maiser, who is the TXDoT area engineer in Greenville last week, and he was aware of that. He said because of the traffic going in and out of there during construction, that they always did it that way. They built that base first, then they come back and do the overlay for the actual driving surface.
Construction of the new roadway is expected to be completed by this August.
