SULPHUR SPRINGS - Another regional airport is awarded grant funding through the Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division.
Two grants with a total value of approximately $325,000 will go toward the construction of a new hangar at the Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport.
Additionally, the airport’s existing underground fuel tank will be relocated to an existing storage facility that will allow for easier access to delivery. The city’s Airport Layout Plan will also be updated.
TxDOT expects to provide approximately $60 million in funding for planning, constructing and maintaining community airports, and roughly 275 community airports in Texas are eligible.
Last month, Cox Field in Paris was approved for more than $1.5 million in funding.
