Local attorney misses chance to run for office

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A local attorney will not get a chance to seek a state district court post. Scott Cornuaud attempted to apply for the GOP nod in the race for 196th District Court, but filed his application a few minutes past Monday evening's official deadline.

Hunt County Republican Party Chairman David Hale said he had received Cornuaud's application on a provisional basis and contacted the Texas Secretary of State's Office for a ruling. However the application was denied. The incident was a result of a lack of a notary stamp on the paperwork.

With the denial, Assistant District Attorney Steve Tittle; who filed his Monday, is unopposed in the March GOP primary. He'll face incumbent Democrat District Judge Joe Leonard in November.
