Local business supports Veterans Memorial
SULPHUR SPRINGS - With less than two months until the anticipated opening of the Hopkins County Veterans Memorial, donations are still coming in for the roughly $750,000 project.
Highway 24 Lumber and Feed in Cooper recently donated and delivered 150 12-foot 2x4's for the foundation frames for the site, under construction in Sulphur Springs.
The memorial is scheduled to open on the downtown square on Saturday, June 30, the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram reports in this April article. The opening comes on the day of the city's annual Independence Day Concert and Fireworks Show.
According to the memorial’s website, all veterans who have lived in, or are buried in Hopkins County and received an honorable discharge will have earned the right to be included on the memorial.
