Local festival to feature tribute to 9/11 victims
Sulphur Springs – The Hopkins County community plans to honor the firefighters who died on 9/11 during their Fall Festival Parade Saturday. The annual event kicks off the Hopkins County Fall Festival, now in its 42nd year.
Sheriff's Posse member Mike Rushin says it'll be a riderless tribute, where a saddle will be draped with the appropriate flag or other fitting memorial. The officer's pistol or saber and his hat would also be on the saddle.
With Sunday marking the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, a number of local communities are holding special ceremonies. To learn more or to post your own event, visit ketr.org/events.
