Austin – House lawmakers have approved a bill to name a portion of State Highway 243 in Van Zandt County as the Veterans Memorial Parkway in honor of those who have served. The section of road will run between State Highway 198 and State Highway 64.
The bill was authored by District 2 State Representative Dan Flynn (R-Van), who serves the citizens of Van Zandt, Hunt and Rains counties.
"I am proud to support the initiative of Van Zandt County to show their support and admiration of Veterans and was proud that I could work to achieve its passage," Flynn stated.
Flynn also recently achieved passage of House Bill 74 which honors the service of our armed forces members who have lost their lives.
The ultimate intent of this legislation was to ensure that the wishes of the service member who died in service to his or her nation have ultimate authority when it comes to the disposition of their remains.
