Local inmate formally charged with arson

GREENVILLE - Curtis Laron Williams has been indicted for starting a fire in a Commerce City Jail cell.

In August, Williams was arrested on local warrants and was allegedly able to set fire to toilet paper, a bible, and a mattress.

Williams was transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville for treatment for smoke inhalation. He was later transported to the Hunt County Jail where he was booked for arson.

The jail facility suffered some smoke damage but was back up and running later that day.
