Local instructor and Northeast Texas native to be laid to rest

FARMERSVILLE - Students and teachers at Farmersville ISD are mourning the loss of agriculture instructor John Alan Smith, whose untimely death occurred Sunday.

Preliminary reports indicate that he had a heart attack.

Smith had formally taught at Mabank before coming to Farmersville High School. The Paris native lived in Sulphur Springs. Here's his obituary.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, with the funeral scheduled for 2:00pm on Wednesday at Tapp Funeral Home, 216 Gilmer St. in Sulphur Springs.
