Local judge promotes census participation

By Scott Harvey

Sulphur Springs – Hopkins County Judge Cletis Millsap is encouraging residents to take part in the 2010 census and fill out the forms upon reception.

In an email Wednesday, Millsap indicated Hopkins County has received millions of dollars for things like infrastructure grants for water, sewer, and homeland security based on census data. The benefits can be felt nationwide if each resident takes part in the process.

This year's survey lists only ten questions.

Hopkins and other area counties will be applying for many different kinds of grants and information provided through the census will be critical to whether local governmental agencies will obtain the money.
