Local Recyclers Indicted for Theft
By Brad Kellar
The owners of a Commerce-area recycling business have been indicted for receiving stolen materials.
James Dale Taverner of Campbell and Jesus Jaime Garza of Commerce each received one indictment for theft by appropriation of less than $20,000 from the Hunt County grand jury when it met December 14. Arraignment hearings have not been scheduled in the case.
Sheriff Randy Meeks announced investigators with his office and the Texas Department of Public Safety Regulatory Crimes Bureau conducted an undercover operation November 9 at Dub’s Recycling on State Highway 224 near Commerce.
The indictment alleged Taverner and Garza purchased the items from an undercover DPS agent after it was explicitly represented that the material was stolen.
