Caddo Mills – A local soldier was honored late last week after he was killed earlier this month in Iraq. 29 year old Emerson Brand of Caddo Mills was killed when an explosive device detonated near his vehicle while on patrol in Baghdad. It was his second tour of duty in Iraq.
His body was returned to Caddo Mills Friday via Majors Field Municipal Airport in Greenville. A memorial procession and ceremony followed.
A statement released by Brand's family said they were overwhelmed by support shown from the community for the fallen soldier.
