Local youth learn safety tips at bike rodeo

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Nearly two dozen children participated in last Saturday's bike safety rodeo, presented by the Commerce Police Department.

In partnership with the Commerce Wal-Mart, officers and volunteers were able to inform bicycle riders of numerous safety tips. At the end of the day, Campbell resident Julian Padilla was awarded a bicycle, donated by Wal-Mart.

Police say that with summer just around the corner, children will be out and about during daylight hours. It is imperative that they understand the rules of the road and safety precautions needed when riding bicycles throughout the neighborhoods.

For more information on bicycle safety, you may contact the Commerce Police Department at 903-886-1139.
