Lone Oak, Dodd City, others rank highly in school district study

Caddo Mills ISD was among the highest-ranked school districts in Northeast Texas according to the Children at Risk study.

The statewide education organization Children At Risk has published its second edition of the Texas School Guide. The publication is designed to help parents navigate the public school system. The guide ranks all school districts across Texasand assigns grades ranging from A to F. Using data provided by the Texas Education Agency, the school districts were evaluated by student achievement, campus performance and growth.

Among school districts in the KETR service area, the best-performing districts were Lone Oak, Dodd City, McKinney, Caddo Mills, Ector and Roxton. The poorest-performing districts locally were Terrell, Yantis, Grand Saline and Community.

Below are listed the results from school districts in KETR’s service area, along with the district’s county, composite score, statewide rank and letter grade. The top districts in the state were Borden County (Borden, 96.32, 1, A), Klondike (Dawson 95.57, 2, A) and Highland (Nolan, 95.14, 3, A). The poorest-performing districts were Premont (Jim Wells, 0.62, 953, F), Higgins (Lipscomb, 2.85, 952, F) and Bloomington (Victoria, 3.60, 951, F).
