Lone Oak man pleads guilty to hit and run

Lone Oak – A guilty plea has been entered in connection to a hit and run accident.

Walker Dodson, of Lone Oak, was indicted by the Hunt County Grand Jury in Sept., 2008, charged with failure to stop and render assistance and allegedly leaving the scene of an accident that reportedly left two people seriously injured. He had previously pleaded not guilty. During a hearing Tuesday Dodson entered an open plea of guilty to the charge. An open plea means no plea bargain has been entered regarding the charge. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for May 15.

Officers responded to the scene of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Lee St. and US Highway 69 on March 23, 2008. Four people were reportedly northbound the Highway and stopped at a red light when rear ended by a vehicle allegedly driven by Dodson. When officers arrived at the scene the driver was nowhere to be found although witnesses said the man walked away from the crash.
